 Colubris DUAL RADIO products

Authored by Kent Brost, VP of Security

WAV, Inc., an authorized Colubris Networks Distributor since 2001, is excited by their most recent product announcement – the CN3300 & CN330, Colubris’ family of dual Wireless LAN (WLAN) platforms, which include the industry's first support for high capacity dual 802.11g, or dual 802.11a radios in a single WLAN access device.

The new Colubris CN3300/CN330 are software-configurable to operate as an Access Point, WLAN Monitor or Wireless Distribution (WDS) Bridge on either radio, providing advanced performance, coverage & future proofing required by service providers & enterprise customers.  Using the CN3300/CN330 wireless platform, network managers and IT Directors can deploy multiple services or applications such as data, video and voice on a WLAN at a significantly reduced cost and shorter deployment schedule.

Previously, WLAN customers were limited to 802.11a/b/g devices that used separate radios dedicated to each band.  The CN3300/CN330 simplifies deployment while expanding capacity with support for two simultaneous channels using any combination of the 802.11a/b/g operating modes.

The CN3300 features Colubris Networks’ industry-leading multi-service Virtual Access Point capability, which enables a single device to deliver up to 16 different WLAN services.  With virtual AP, roaming clients can directly select a service from multiple broadcast SSIDs.  Each SSID can be mapped to a series of related objects, including RADIUS AAA servers, captive portals & DHCP servers, delivering a customized experience to the wireless client.  Authentication, encryption and VLAN tagging policies can also be customized for each SSID.

The CN3300 also integrates a stateful firewall & IP router, enabling it to support a range of network architectures.  This product features GRE tunnel support for centralized allocation of IP addresses as well as enabling adaptive NAT to deliver seamless support for session-oriented subscriber applications such as VPN clients. The firewall protects the CN3300 Internet connection from hackers and an integrated VPN client secures all authentication and management traffic between the hotspot & Network Operating Center.

The CN3300/CN330s are a part of complete family of WLAN products from Colubris Networks.  They can be used to deliver wireless services to large venues including hotels, airports & sports stadiums.

In addition to the above products, Colubris provides CNMS, Colubris Network Management System offering centralized configuration, monitoring & troubleshooting for an entire multi-site hotspot network.

Colubris Networks offers WAV Business Partners a superior and secure family of wireless products designed for Hot Spot & Enterprise customers.  For more information about Colubris Networks, contact Kent Brost @ 630-818-4429 or visit Colubris at www.colubris.com
