Loose tube cables are the best choice for use as the main infrastructure in outside plant (OSP) environments. The strong loose tube design ensures consistent transmission performance across a wide temperature range. Optical fibers and water-blocking elements are carefully placed inside gel-free buffer tubes. The core is formed by arranging the buffer tubes around a central member using a reverse oscillating lay (ROL) technique. Flexible strength members, covered with a water-blocking tape, wrap the core, and a corrugated steel armor is applied before encasing it in a black jacket. Ripcords are conveniently included under the armor for easy access.
